Salman and Madhuri stay back in London

Of all the wax statues from the Bollywood superstars' collection that were sent to Madame Tussauds, Hong Kong, as part of the ongoing world tour, only the wax lookalikes of Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit were left behind. So, while the wax dead ringers of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan will travel to Madame Tussauds museums around the world, Sallu and Mads' wax replicas will be missing out on all the fun. But the reason behind their absence is a happy one.
Speaking to BT, Kelly Mak, general manager of Madame Tussauds, Hong Kong, said, "Having seen an overwhelming number of fans wanting to meet Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit at Madame Tussauds, London, we were, unfortunately, unable to bring them on the world tour this time round. Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit are two of the most popular stars in Bollywood. We hope to have a fair representation of wax figures in each of the Madame Tussauds worldwide, and in view of the anticipated influx of tourists going to England for the Olympics, the Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit wax figures are staying in London to meet their fans there. We hope to have them visit our fans in Hong Kong soon."
But that doesn't mean that the exhibition in Hong Kong is witnessing any fewer surges of Bollywood fans. Says Kelly, "We have seen an ongoing rise in the number of visitors from India and other emerging markets. In order to meet the tastes of this group of visitors, the wax figure of the legendary, award-winning Indian superstar Amitabh Bachchan was launched last year, making him the Hong Kong museum's only permanent Bollywood wax exhibit. Having installed, for the purpose of this exhibition, the wax versions of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, and Shah Rukh Khan in Madame Tussauds, Hong Kong, they now share space alongside Amitabh Bachchan in the World Premiere zone until July 19, 2012.
